Welcome
IIT Kanpur Alumni Association is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the institute with an Innovation Convention in Bangalore on June 19-20, 2010. This is one of the four alumni conventions being held across the world between August 2009 and December 2010.
The inaugural celebratory event was held on August 8, 2009 at Kanpur. The first alumni convention took place at IIT Kanpur during January 2-4, 2010 with focus on R&D. This was followed the President of India’ visit to the institute in February 2010. The Prime Minister of India will be visiting IIT Kanpur for the Golden Jubilee Convocation in July 2010. Further details about golden jubilee celebrations at IIT Kanpur campus are available here.
The Bangalore event is the first major convention outside the IITK Campus, and will be followed by the US East Coast and later at US West Coast. The schedule of these Alumni Conferences is:
- Bangalore, India on June 19-20, 2010
- East Coast, Washington DC, USA on July 9-11, 2010, and
- West Coast, Bay Area, USA on July 16-18, 2010.
The Bangalore event will focus on “Igniting Innovation” at IITs and in the country and “Building Bridges” between the alumni and their alma mater to create a vibrant innovation ecosystem. The program will have a heady mix of
- A roadmap for spurring innovation at IITs
- Celebrating our alumni contributions in innovating the new India
- A global innovation challenge to identify next50 student innovators
- Creation of an innovation center, and
- A nostalgic trip down memory lane, to our golden days at IITK
Innovation takes the center stage and we will not only investigate how to spur innovation in the IIT products, but also conduct an innovation challenge and set-up an innovation center as a dedication to the nation on behalf of IITK.
